  • Why your dog might need orthopedic dog beds

How to lighten my dog's joint pain? .

Many dog owners confront the trouble of their dogs afflicted with arthiritis as they get older. Certain breeds of dogs such as the golden retriever or labrador are also prone to the disease more often than the early breeds.

    What is dog arthritis? .

Just like humans, the bones of dogs depend on a selected synovial fluid for lubrication which in turns give them flexibility. As the dogs get older, there will be less of that fluids present in their joints which often to many symptoms such as inflammatory joints, joints and muscular tissue stiffness, etc.

If you see your dog, especially large ones are hitching when they run or walk. It may have arthritis. Other signs to look for might be having trouble to get up from a sleeping position, reluctant to run up stairs, less movements than usual. If that is the case, take your dog to the veterinary immediately. The vet would do a few simple tests and if the arthritis is not too drastic , the dog might not even have to go on medication for the long run.

One of the best solution to your dogs arthritis is to get him an orthopedical mattress. It is based on the same principle of we humans having arthritis. You want a mattress that will relieve the pressure of the many pressure points of your dogs joints. Some dogs are heavier and when they sleep, their muscles would further press down on their joints, which causes many ramifications.

A memory foam material is the best one for this purpose due to its longevity and firmness.
